If you’re wondering where to stay in Zion National Park, you’re in the right place. I’ve got a list of the best places to book, whether you’re looking for luxury, comfort, or budget-friendly stays. After a day of exploring the stunning vistas and trails of Zion National Park, you’ll look forward to resting at these accommodations.

I’ve been to all five of the national parks in Utah, and Zion is a gem among gems surrounded by gorgeous state parks too. On our Las Vegas to Zion road trip, my family of four stayed at a nearby glamping campground and a higher-end hotel. Both ended up being about the same nightly price and the hotel was 1,000% better!

As a professional travel writer with over 10 years of experience writing for magazines, I’ve explored incredible destinations across the United States. My mission is to help people plan unforgettable vacations. For a hassle-free road trip Las Vegas to Zion, check out my Zion National Park Road Trip Itinerary Guide. It has everything you need to go on an awesome vacation!

Here I share with you my list of top places to stay in and around Zion National Park. Because, let’s face it, accommodations can eat up a lot of the travel budget—so they should be worth it.

Where To Stay In Zion National Park

The right accommodations can make all the difference. Here are the places I have stayed or would book for a future visit—for their outstanding reviews, amenities, and proximity to the park. These are all hotels, inns, and B&Bs, but you can find my favorite vacation home rentals and additional places to stay near gorgeous state parks within 30 to 60 minutes of Zion in my Zion road trip guide.

No matter what accommodation you choose, book well in advance. Zion National Park is a top pick for nature enthusiasts and adventurers and can get pretty crowded during the busiest months, from March through November.

1. Zion Lodge

The only place to stay within the park itself is Zion Lodge. The hotel rooms have king or queen beds while the cabins have two double beds and a fireplace. Both offer rustic charm, air conditioning, and direct trail access. The lodge is ideal for those who want to get an early start each day and avoid having to take shuttles into the park. However, your food options will be limited to their onsite grill and café unless you want to drive into the town of Springdale, which is about 15 minutes away.

  • Price Range: From $250 per night.
  • Location: Inside Zion National Park.
  • Amenities: Direct trail access, breathtaking views, on-site dining, and historic ambiance.

PRO TIP: There’s a lot of competition to stay in this hotel—so be sure you book it as soon as possible. Reservations can be made up to 13 months in advance.

Best Places to Stay Near Zion National Park

Springdale is a small gateway town right outside the main (south) entrance to Zion National Park. It caters to park explorers and is filled with hotels, inns, and several eateries set against the gorgeous backdrop of sandstone cliffs.

Springdale is a convenient location for all your park adventures. However, being so close to the park, Springdale can get crowded and the restaurants often have long waits at dinnertime. However, transportation from Springdale to the park is easy.

Springdale, Utah is a small town that’s the gateway to Zion National Park.

You can hop on Springdale’s free shuttle—no tickets or reservations needed—to get a ride to the park entrance. The shuttle picks up and drops off at nine stops in town about every 15 minutes. A different shuttle inside the park takes you to various points including trailheads and the visitor center.

Other nearby towns to stay in include La Verkin and Hurricane, both about a 30-minute drive from Zion National Park. These towns offer vacation home rentals and lower prices. But you’ll have to drive to the park and fight for a parking spot in the park’s lot, which is often full by the morning, or in the town of Springdale and take the shuttle in.

I recommend places to stay in La Verkin and Hurricane in my Zion National Park Road Trip Itinerary Guide. These locations make a great base camp for exploring the surrounding state parks. But here I’ll share the top places to stay in Springdale since that’s usually the most popular location for those focusing their trip on Zion only.

2. Cliffrose Springdale

People return year after year to Cliffrose Springdale, a luxury retreat just outside the park entrance—it’s that amazing. Rooms have stunning canyon and river views and comfy beds. The pool area is gorgeous and only rivals the scenery you soak up by sitting near the river that runs through the property.

  • Price Range: $175-$500 per night.
  • Location: 0.6 miles from Zion National Park Visitor Center.
  • Amenities: 10-minute walk to park entrance, patios with canyon views, on-site restaurant, spa services, beautiful pool area with hot tub.

PRO TIP: Across the street is an e-bike rental shop. Rent bikes and ride them through Zion National Park to avoid having to board the crowded park shuttles during the busy season.

Best Time To Visit Zion

For the best experience, visit Zion National Park during the spring (April to June) and fall (September to November). The weather is mild, and the crowds are thinner, making for a more enjoyable visit. Summers are scorching, and winter may bring snow, affecting trail accessibility.

FAQs

Where do people stay when visiting Zion National Park?

Most visitors opt to stay in Springdale due to its proximity to the park entrance and its wide range of accommodation options, from hotels to cozy inns.

Is it better to stay inside or outside Zion National Park?

Staying inside the park at Zion Lodge offers the convenience of immediate trail access while staying in Springdale provides a broader selection of accommodations and eateries.

How many days should I stay in Zion National Park?

Your park bucket list determines how many days you should stay in Zion National Park. For us, it was two days. That was enough time to hike three trails—The Narrows, Canyon Overlook, and Emerald Pools. But if you want to do more or longer hikes or tube down the river, horseback ride, and explore nearby state parks, you may need at least three to four days.

Is it better to stay in Zion or Bryce Canyon?

Both parks are beautiful, but Zion is bigger, has more trails, and is centrally located between Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. It’s best to stay near Zion, where there are several days worth of activities to choose from including making day trips to Bryce Canyon and the Grand Canyon. (Both national parks are about two hours from Zion). Also, Zion has more lodging and restaurants and the city of St. George is only 30 minutes away, giving you access to a bunch of stores, supplies, restaurants, and medical facilities.

The Takeaway

Choosing where to stay in Zion National Park can be overwhelming—there are so many options! My recommendations are beautiful, comfy, clean, and convenient. So no matter your budget, you’ll have a lovely spot to return to after a day spent doing amazing activities in Zion National Park.
